Can I still work if I get into the GEN TV course?

Part-time and flexible work is ideal for this course. The contact hours of the course have been structured to accommodate this.

36 Academic Weeks.

What are the contact hours?

Monday, Tuesday 10am - 5pm,
Wednesday 10am to 4pmb at QPIX

Some out-of-hours time required during productions.

What is the qualification?

Upon graduation, you will be awarded a nationally recognised diploma in Screen and Media (CUF50107) with a specialisation in Television Production.

Can I get entry into a University?

Yes. QPIX has a formal Credit Transfer Agreement with Queensland University of Queensland (QUT). QPIX students who have completed the (CUF50107) Diploma of Screen and Media and is admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, TV and New Media Production) is guaranteed 2 semesters (1 year) of credit. This is the equivalent to 96 points of the 288 total credit points required for the completion of the Degree.

Can I apply for Recognition of Prior Learning?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Please contact us directly for more information.

What employment opportunities will I have?

There are a wide range of jobs that are possible in this mixed world of television and transmedia production which our students will experience. They can include:
production, management, administration, directing, performance, writing, designing, general creative, system design and development, technical production, marketing and traffic engagement. Full more detail on these areas please read the GEN TV outcomes.

Are there entry requirements?

Satisfactory completion of Year 10 or its equivalent.
Mature age entry (21 years of age or over) with relevant work experience and/ or previous acceptable qualifications that are reviewed at course interview.

  • Basic entry-level computer skills (ability to word process, write and read emails and use the internet) to be demonstrated at course interview.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an interest in and suitability for work in the screen and media field by preparing a pre-selection kit for the QPIX admissions officer. (A pre-selection kit listing required documentation and evidence for a course interview is available at QPIX upon request.
